The University of Madeira (UMa) is a public higher education institution in Portugal created in 1988. Talking about the universities of Portugal it is impossible not to mention University of Madeira which is among the top 20 universities in the country. The University of Madeira (UMa) is located in Funchal (the capital of Madeira) with the main building, Colégio dos Jesuítas, with the Rector’s Office and other main offices. The Facultys and classes are in Campus Universitário da Penteada (ten minutes by car or bus from the center of Funchal). In the campus, there are also the Academic Services, the Student’s Office, the library, the canteen, restaurant and laboratories. In Quinta São Roque, near campus, you can relax or have sports. You can ask for accommodation at the University Residence which is also located in Funchal. UMa teaches undergratuate, master’s and doctoral degrees in the following areas: chemistry, physics, biology, computer engineering, telecommunications, educational sciences, physical education and sport, economics and management.
